Same numbers. One of them just stopped scaring you.

The math doesn’t change — your set-aside is your set-aside. What changes is knowing it the moment the money lands, instead of discovering it in April. SideTax keeps a running answer so “how much of this is actually mine?” has a number, every time. (Figures shown are illustrations, not personalized tax advice.)

Schedule B — What we’re building (not built yet)
  1. 1a
    Log a payment in seconds

Amount and client, done. No bank linking, no Plaid, no transaction scraping — your money’s whereabouts stay yours.

  2. 1b
    Instant set-aside math

Federal plus self-employment tax, calculated as you log. State-aware percentages in Pro.

  3. 1c
    Deadline push reminders

All four estimated-payment dates — Apr 15, Jun 15, Sep 15, Jan 15 — nudged to you before they bite.

  4. 1d
    Safe-harbor logic

Safe harbor means paying a set share of last year’s tax so the IRS won’t penalize you, even if you earn more. SideTax aims for that line, so your estimate is defensible.

Instructions for Schedule Q — Common questions

When does it launch?

It’s in active development now. There’s no app to download yet. Waitlist members get first access — we’ll email you the moment there’s something to log into.

What do I get for signing up?

Early access ahead of public launch, and locked-in early-bird pricing on Pro. We’ll send build updates, not spam — and nothing else uses your email.

Is this tax filing or tax advice?

No. SideTax is an estimator — it tells you what to set aside. It does not file returns and is not a substitute for a tax professional. For your actual filing, talk to an accountant.

Why no bank linking?

Because privacy is the entire point. Other tools make you connect your checking account and scrape every transaction. SideTax never sees your bank — you type the payment, we do the math.

What about state taxes?

State-aware set-aside percentages are planned for Pro, so your number reflects where you actually owe — not just the federal slice.

What counts as a payment?

Any self-employment income — an invoice paid, a gig settled, a marketplace payout. You log the amount and who it came from; SideTax handles the set-aside.
